It might be easier to have a list of the good and the great who Dave Kelly has not played with. It most certainly would be a shorter list
Dave is in The Blues Band so instantly who have an idea of the mans pedigree. He was there at the beginning of The Blues Band and he is still there today 39 years later, but it is not just British Blues stars that Dave has played with.
From the USA we have Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and John Lee Hooker to name but 3
The inspiration into Dave’s musical career was his big sister, the late great Jo-Ann Kelly. She opened his mind to the Blues. Until that day he was only interested in Buddy Holly and the other USA Rock ‘n’ Rollers
In 1967 he joined The John Dummer Blues Band. After three albums and a solo project he continued to polish his style and technique throughout an adventurous career with some of Britain's finest players. When The Blues Band was formed in 1979, the post of slide guitarist and joint vocalist was a foregone conclusion. It just had to be Dave. His guitar and vocals form the very backbone of The Blues Band's distinctive sound.
Today, after years 'treading the boards' with the band, with his solo albums, duo tours with Paul Jones, and soundtrack work (for commercials and such projects as BBC TV's 'King of the Ghetto' and the Comic Strip's 'Strike!') Dave Kelly is firmly established as Europe's premier blues performer.
